- [ ] Overview
- [ ] OneBigGame is a videogames industry charity initiative, probably best compared to the famous Live Aid charity initiative from the music industry: our mission is to bring together some of the most famous game designers and major development studios to create a number of unique games, specifically developed for OneBigGame, with all the proceeds going to children‚ charities around the world.
OneBigGame works together with a select number of these global charities as partners to ensure funds are optimally spent and have direct effect on the lives of children in need of help. The founders of OneBigGame feel that the timing is right for a games industry-wide initiative to raise funds and awareness for children’s charities projects around the world, simply by having people buy and play a selection of special games.
Play so others can!

OneBigGame was founded in 2006 by a number of videogame industry veterans, who were looking to use the creative and collective power of the videogames industry for other purposes than making a profit. Together with a small group of volunteers and employee‚ they now form the core team of OneBigGame, responsible for the day to day running of the operations at its offices in Europe and the US.
Overseeing the actions of the core team is the Board of Directors, currently consisting of 5 members that are ultimately responsible for all actions of the organization and its performance. Next to this, the OneBigGame organization is supported by an Advisory Board, with a combined industry experience of over a century among them, and representing all the different disciplines that exist within the videogames industry.
OneBigGame wouldn’t exist without the help of its development partners, who play a pivotal role in the initiative by kindly donating their time to create the games that OneBigGame will publish for charity.

Overview
OneBigGame raises funds for key children‚ charities. We do this by distributing and selling games.
You can help out by buying and playing our titles. When you download and play our games, you not only have a great time ‚ you‚ also spending your money to help less fortunate children from around the world.
Or as we like to say, Play, so others can‚ Our games are created by some of the top names in the field, (like Chime‚ creators Zoe Mode), as a charitable donation. We‚also inviting independent game creators to get involved. We will distribute these games via our casual portal at OneBigGame.org (to be launched soon), as well as through a network of gaming sites, to reach as many gamers as possible.

Our charities
OneBigGame wants to make a fundamental difference to the lives of children faced with problems ‚ to battle the causes rather than fight the consequences. We‚therefore chosen to support two well-established charities, to maximise the impact of every dollar we raise.
Our selected charities are:
Save the Children is the leading independent organisation, creating real and lasting change for children in need around the world. Fighting starvation, diseases and abuse and bringing education where possible, Save the Children always seeks out the most marginalized children, wherever they are found. The ultimate aim is to inspire dramatic change for children and to involve them in creating that change.

Starlight Children‚ Foundation is dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families worldwide cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. Starlight‚ programs have been proven to distract children from their pain, help them better understand and manage their illnesses, and connect families facing similar challenges so that no one feels alone.
As our charity partners, these two charities are the beneficiaries of funds raised through OneBigGame. Both are trusted organizations with high organisational and fiscal efficiency, ensuring our money is well spent on the various projects they run.
- [ ] 1st Release

MAG, previously titled MAG: Massive Action Game, is a MMO shooter for the PlayStation 3 and was developed by Zipper Interactive. The game was announced at Sony’s E3 2008 press conference. Various subtitles were being considered for the game, including MAG: Shadow War, MAG: Zero, MAG: Global Assault and MAG: Final Hour. The game was released in North America on January 26, 2010 And was released in Europe on January 27. It is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom on January 29 and in Australia and New Zealand on February 11 2010.

The game will utilize a new server architecture to support online battles with up to 256 players, with users divided into 8-player squads, with 4 squads forming a platoon, and 4 platoons forming a company. Each squad will be led by a player who has advanced through the game’s ranking system. Character statistics and development will also increase with frequent gameplay. The players most advanced in rank will be able to either direct the battle or participate directly in combat.

Basic battles will take place within ongoing, faction-based campaigns to encourage the player to actively play. The game’s E3 unveiling trailer featured large landscapes, tactics such as air strikes and parachuting, and a variety of vehicles, from tanks and APCs to airplanes.

Players will be able to customize the face, voice, and armor of their characters, as well as what weapons and kit they carry into battle. The game will be a first-person shooter.
Story
- [ ] Background:
- [ ] The game begins in 2025. As time passes in our modern world, maintaining a full scale military becomes a burden. In a fully globalized world, the only security threat is from small scale rogue organizations against whom large forces are useless, and the fuel needed to supply increasingly mechanized armies becomes more costly. As a result, most nations armies decrease to the size necessary to defend against a “national emergency”. Furthermore, under the “Millennium Accord”, no nation’s military is permitted to leave its own borders, officially creating world peace. In their place rise PMCs (Private Military Corporations). They have two advantages: first, they compete, lowering their cost, and second, they are allowed to work for anyone, anywhere. In an unregulated global economy, the companies soon compete by less than honest means. After enough mergers, bargains and buy-outs, however, the remaining PMCs decided to put their weapons to full use. The original attacks followed a simple plan: shoot a competitor’s soldiers, lowering supply to cause them to charge more and, ultimately, go out of business. The shadow war, as it was called, grew in secret until the conflict moved into full swing, with the PMCs securing their own interests and violently fighting for contracts. It is unclear if the story will continue after release or remain static.
Factions

The game will contain three different private military company factions:
Seryi Volk Executive Response/S.V.E.R. (pronounced “Sever”), a ragtag military force with personnel drawn from war-torn countries in the Middle East and Russia
Raven Industries, a faction with high-tech weapons and armor, comprising of West European soldiers
Valor Company, whose soldiers are equipped with more standard-styled gear. They comprise of seasoned veterans from the United States, United Kingdom and Mexico.

Moving Pictures: The Conversation

August 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The Conversation

THE CONVERSATION (1974, Coppola)

Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) is a private surveillance expert in San Francisco, has been hired by ‘the Director’ to follow and record the actions of his wife, Ann (Cindy Williams), and her lover, Marc (Frederic Forrest). Using three separate microphones, Caul and his associates follow the couple around Union Square. Later, he pieces together a conversation that clearly indicates the two are in a relationship and that they fear being found out by the Director. Job well done you may think.

However, Caul is a secretive, almost paranoid individual. He alienates his assistant, Stan (John Cazale), because he won’t teach him more about audio surveillance, and his girlfriend, Amy (Teri Garr), because he won’t share with her details about his career or personal life. He also refuses to hand over the tapes of Ann and Marc to the Director’s assistant, Martin (Harrison Ford). The Director had specified that the tapes were to be turned over only to him. Martin protests but Caul keeps the tapes.

Caul becomes increasingly concerned that, were he to turn the tapes over to the Director, that some harm would come to Ann and Marc. On the tapes, Marc can be heard to say “He’d kill us if he had the chance.” When he worked on the East Coast, Caul had participated in a surveillance that led to the deaths of two persons. He worries that this might happen again, and goes to church to confess his sins.

After the tapes go missing, Caul begins to break down as he is sucked into an impossible situation that severely compromises both himself and his morals.

A fantastic thriller; Francis Ford Coppola’s sites this as his best film, and had to wait 8 years to finance it, in which time he made the Godfather.
